Tom, thank you for this video. I am self teaching Viticulture and I am a very slow learner. I watched a bunch of play throughs, read the manual, and yesterday I started watching this one while playing along exactly what you are doing. I pause to find the cards you pick, and put play mode at .5 so I can easily keep up. I appreciate so much that you clearly showed every card and every move you made. I thought Viticulture was going to take me hours and hours of self teaching, but doing it this way with your Tom vs Tom has saved me many hours of struggle. BTW, in .5 playback you sound a little tipsy, like you've had a bit too much vino. ;)

15:05 I absolutely love the idea of a professional vintner describing their own vines as "a little bit wussy" 😂

FYI, a lot of wines are named after the grapes they use- eg Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir.

Tom, I love your play-throughs mainly because you state upfront that you are not teaching strategy, but teaching the game. When you screw up, you own it. No excuses, just "let me show you the game". Awesome. Thank you for doing, sir!

This is a clear, concise playthrough, nice work, almost don't need to read rulebook🐓

I’m not sure it’s OK to send a purple grande worker to fulfil the second order in the last round, because you can take a particular action only once in a year.

In terms of strategy, a couple of rounds before the final one, I was yelling at the screen for you to buy another worker for blue - it would have slowed down the wine-engine for that turn, but you'd have had some extra actions to play with over the remaining rounds that should have let blue catch up. It does seem like the crossover point for having extra actions per round against having more productive actions in the early rounds comes about at the end of the game for this one, but in that last round, "red" had such an action advantage that blue didn't actually have a chance, despite having an extremely lucky draw for his fall card.

I did spot one rules error - at 49:24, you did forget to take the point off "red" for getting the cellar upgrade (you mentioned it as a possibility later, but didn't annotate it).

As for tracking which fields you've harvested, I've not played the game, nor read the rules to know if there's a standard/suggested method, but simply pushing the field up a few centimeters seems like an obvious option.

You could always put one of the clear tokens on a field when you harvest it.

Thanks for this video. It is very well done.

Just an FYI because I played for months before noticing it, but each color has it's own player board. Just look at the icons next to the structure names and you can see which board you have. Like in this tutorial you used the orange player board for the blue player. :)

Great play-through. Thanks, Tom. This is a classy, engrossing game. Like Renee said above, the Tuscany Essential Edition makes a great game better. While I'm not sure you'd need to spend time making another video with Tuscany, you'll never go back to the base game.

Solid playthrough 👍🏽 Any chance for another but with the Tuscany EE? 😬
