AQA GCSE PE: The Cardiac Cycle, The Heart, The Pathway Of Blood | The Cardiovascular System | AQA Paper 1
This video seeks to outline the cardiac cycle, pathway of blood and relevant key terms and definitions associated with this topic. It is essential that YOU understand this topic in preparation for the AQA GCSE PE (9-1) paper 1 examination, as well as Biology.
You need to know the following:
• the left/right hand side of the heart when analysing an image
• the chambers of the heart
• the order of the cardiac cycle
• the pathway of blood
• the significance of valves relating these to blood pressure and the prevention of backflow
• the definitions of cardiac output, stroke volume, heart rate, diastole and systole
• how to interpret heart rate graphs, including an anticipatory rise, and changes in intensity
I have attached the AQA specification below where you can read about this.
Key terms: cardiac cycle, pathway of blood, heart, right/left atrium, right/left ventricle, tricuspid valve, bicuspid valve, artery, vein, oxygenated, deoxygenated, pulmonary vein, pulmonary artery, oxygen, carbon dioxide, lungs, diffusion, alveolus, cardiac output, stroke volume, heart rate, diastole and systole.
As ever, if you require any assistance please leave a comment in the section below.
