Russia's President Vladimir Putin told Moscow's Victory Day parade that the world is at a "turning point", with a "real war" being waged against Russia.

Putin once again sought to link Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with the struggle against Nazism during World War Two.

Hours before the Victory Day celebrations began, Russia launched a fresh wave of air strikes on Ukraine, with Kyiv saying 23 of the 25 cruise missiles fired were destroyed.

Most were aimed at the capital, which came under attack for the fifth time this month.

"Anyone trying to stop us will face terrible consequences." Ah yes, the words of a man truly acting in the service of others..

It’s crazy to think that in 2010 Polish, France, Ukrainian, US, UK, troops all marched in this very parade

Putin really thought that if you say "victory" enough time it will happen.

You see, in my country Poland, we take down Soviet monuments becuase they glorify the Soviet Union and are ment to put it above ourselves in our own hierarchy of WWII (we don't touch military graveyards). That means, according to Putin and his pals in Russia, we are supossed to be grateful to the Soviet Union and now Russia for winning the war against Germany and liberating us. The problem lies exactly here - Moscow was a very important factor for us to fall under German-Soviet occupation after September 1939. Now, why should we be grateful to them starting all of this as German allies and forcibly changing our internationally recognised borders, bringing new terror after Nazi terror, establishing a communist government, setting up sham referendums and changing our country against the will of considerable majority of the people. The size of our state decreased, we lost 22% of pre-war population, the Soviets robbed us of German reparations, robbed our economy after 1945, imposed a foreign culture and system causing us to end up worst than Germany that was supposed to be punished. All the Germans land they gave us had to be rebuilt by Polish hands, not Soviet and on top of that they stole much of industry and infrastructure that was located there. Come on man, what is there to be grateful for? I don't question the Soviet victory, I just say it was not our victory but a victory over Germany and over us as well. Poland lost the war against Germany and the Soviet Union. Lost in any given circumstances. We and our neighbours in the region are being treated as lesser nations that have to be reeducated, to be told the truth, simply civilized in their manner. No, thank you.

Wishing all of the Soviet WW2 veterans, and all of those allies who fought with them, a very happy 9th May Day Celebration 🇷🇺 🇬🇧

"Celebrating victory against expansionist fascism" while being an expansionist fascist country yourself... The irony of it is so cruel. How can anyone justify full scale invasion and imperialism? Such ruthlesness and disregard for human life, for them, only territorial expansion counts. Despicable.

Looks more like a funeral than a celebration, hopefully Putin’s 😂🤣🤣🤣
