Sling Showdown Round 4 - Bellroy Sling, Chrome Kadet, Timbuk2 Messenger

Slings! I have never used one and the idea intrigued me. I don't always want to tote around a backpack, but sometimes, on trips, I want to carry stuff. Stuff like my battery, water, snacks, etc. Stuff that I don't carry around at home, but stuff that makes outings easier. So, I went to San Francisco to check out Mission Supply, DSPTCH, Chrome and Timbuk2. I didn't love the the aesthetics of the Mission Supply or DSPTCH offerings, but liked the Chrome Kadet and Timbuk2 so copped both.

Bellroy stuff has always appealed to me, with their design aesthetic and material choices. Even though it was a touch smaller than the other bags I reviewed, I thought it might have some use when I wanted something even more portable and less obtrusive than the other two. Turns out I was right!

Kadet is nice, but weight when packed will make your shoulder sore.

Belroys cool, but they got no compression straps and cross body sling. Kadet is best, especially with the Swedish camo.

I'm still wondering a) how easy would it be to take a fujifilm x100v in and out of it. Especially one handed. (And how one handed are the zippers etc.) And b) would the 'mini' be better for the x100v plus a couple conversion lenses.... hmmm. Any thoughts?

I'm looking for a sling bag that can fit my kids 2 NIN Switches, some snacks, a phone, and a couple power banks. any recommendations?

I type this as lean on my Kadet. I was looking at the Bellrot for such a long time, but you have to be conscious of what you put inside like odd shaped objects. I’m really curious to see how tight it can be in your body as I tend to be on the move and I need to make sure the bag is secured.
