With all due respect to Mr. Hanes, I'd never assume a tanto knife and a knocked arrow would protect me from even a young black bear. If it charges, it could go wrong in a hurry.

its amazing how fast bears can climb. when i was a teenager in the 90's growing up in NW Montana, a common strategy us ignoramuses would all discuss at times for evading grizzlies was to climb a tree. the common misconception is grizzlies arent good climbers. Oh how wrong we were. i know these are black bears and we know they are good climbers, but so are grizzlies

Usually it's the opposite, man sitting on top of a tree scared and bear advancing at him like he's meal.

Here, one bear fled and the other one on the tree looking scared while Cam Hanes is advancing towards it.

Something scared those 2 bears to go up that tree. It could've been a massive brown bear . This guy has more curiosity than brains .
