UK Covid-19 data decides which area goes into which tier post-lockdown

Coronavirus latest - The government said coronavirus tiers will be determined on number of cases, what age groups those cases are affecting, how quickly they are rising and other data.

Grant Shapps, discussed how the new tier system will work after lockdown is lifted in England on 2 December.

The Transport secretary said: "New data is coming out soon, which is why the actual specification of which tier goes into which place will be announced on Thursday, and it will be on the basis of a number of cases.

"For example, the number of cases in the over 60s - where it is much more likely or possible that it could be fatal.

"And things like the speed at which coronavirus is rising or falling in a particular area and a couple of other measures along those lines."
