I have not watched the video, but i know these cars very well. Common 1. Control arms front and rear. The bushings wear out and the suspension knocks. 2. They burn oil 3. ABS brake actuator and or acumulator failure. Very pricey to fix and has to go to a dealer to bleed the brakes. 4. Air suspension struts will fail. This is common with most air suspension vehicles though. 5. Torque shutter from transmission. 6. Bad throttle bodies causing jerking sensation while driving. These are still good cars, but they can have some very expensive repairs. I have seen many well over 200k miles.

My 08 Lexus LS460 also was purchased and spent 10 years in Minnesota... and no rust. When I bought it and had it gone through my a dealer and a local mechanic, I asked them to look for any rust anywhere... and they didn't find any! I bought mine (salvaged title) with 99k miles 4 years ago. It now has 148k miles and it's been a wonderful ride and very reliable. Not cheap to maintain, but it just works.

Had my 2007 for about 3 weeks now. It's a smooth ass sexy tank.... frightening thinking about future maintenance, but still so worth it. 🎉 "Need something at the store, no problem I'm on it" 😂 Any excuse to drive it...

i have a daily driver '07 ls460L UL w/ 330K miles. At 225k I switched to a thicker conventional 10-40w because the car was burning so much oil that it was fouling the plugs. The car still burns oil, but only a quart every 600 miles which believe it or not is within spec according to the Lexus manual. Car still runs and shifts great..

I have 210, 000 miles on my 2007 LS460L… it used to burn a lot of oil like 2 quarts every 5, 000 miles… I changed over to royal purple at about 120, 000 miles and I’m down to burning about 1/2 quart every 5, 000 miles.

I bought a 2012 LS460 L almost 2 years ago and absolutely love it!!! Added exhaust cutouts for when I want to hear the V8! 220K miles, doesn't burn oil, previously one owner car with all maintenance by Lexus. ABS brake actuator work was done and happy i don't have air suspension. I rides better than a lot of new cars!

This my first view of your channel. I think youse guys are impressive and I sense between the two of you probably have an encyclopedia of knowledge and know of what you speak PLUS you have the neatest thing ever that has me green with envy, that Garage Lift!

After pricing various more capable home lifts, at $4, 000 and up, I decided I'd never be doing anything that would justify the investment, and just bought a 3 ton low profile jack and stands, to occasionally lift up this 2 + ton automobile. Since I just paid $1, 000 to a shop just for a coolant change, radiator hoses, serpent belt and 8 spark plugs (and I gave them my own parts, yet!) it won't take long before I recover the cost.

Anyway I'm anticipating more on the Lexus LS from you, my 2017 LS is the car of a lifetime to me. And after owning maybe 12 or 13 other, lesser cars, I wish I hadn't waited so long to own one. Anybody who is on the fence about buying a used LS should at least test drive one. And then you'll know for yourself why these cars are so sought after.

These cars are great when maintained, never let lexus purists sway you away from buying one, for some reason they hate this generation and rever the earlier ones. Might be a bandwagon thing

Any time you get high oil consumption in an engine, don't forget to check your PCV and AOS. PCVs wear out, gum up, get stuck open and are generally cheap as chips to replace. Let it go too long and it will gum up your CAT. If that happens, replace the PCV then dump some cat cleaner in the fuel tank and let it do its thing.

Keep us posted on the oil consumption please.

The issue is with the carbon building on the oil control rings of the piston. Id experiment with liquid Molly diesel purge. its use as a diesel-fuel injection pump cleaner. id add a bottle to a with fresh oil change and run for 10-15mins should loose up the carbon on the oil control rings. then do another oil change. or using same piston soak with lm Diesel purge and make sure all either drained or use suction to remove all fluid so no hydro lock. or third just run 2 quarts of diesel fuel in cank case 10-15min before change oil every interval. Sound crazy I know but it helps tremendously.

I have a 2011 LS460, with 118K miles. It also uses about 1 quart per 1, 000 miles. From what I understand, that's normal and expected for this engine, most especially because of the thin oil they spec 0W-20 (or 5W-20). You could go up to a 5W-30 synethetic, and likely use less oil. The 0W-20 is only spec'd for gas mileage purposes in NA.

Ucf10/11 favorite, the OG LS. I have to admit I do like the looks of the Gen3 LS
