#DidYouKnow: Friction is non-conservative force I.e. the energy spent to overcome friction is lost to the surroundings as heat.

What I understand:
Mass and force applied affects friction
Texture of the ground affects friction of the object going through it

Do you know that if I don't get any topic then I come here only because the explanation is clear as crystal.

Thankyou to you and I want you to continue sending new topics like this.

Friction is non-conservative force I.e. the energy spent to overcome friction is lost to the surroundings as heat.Would be nice to mention that, even if both the surface and the object were perfectly smooth (Which would cause no friction), the particles such as plain air would still, while very slowly, eventually cause enough friction to completely stop the object. It is also impossible to create a vacuum with no particles in it.

4:40 can we also say that the amount of force applied is also a factor? Pls reply ASAP

Summary of this video
Wow ! So there are 2 factors affecting friction :-
1.The nature of the 2 surfaces in contact :- whether they are rough or whether they are Smooth
Smoother surface :- lesser friction
Rough surface :- more friction
Reason :- Irregularities in form of grooves and ridges !
2.The force with which the 2 surfaces are pressed together . Also depends on the mass of an object for eg :- a 5 kg ball will move slowly cause it applys more force on the surface but a 2 kg ball will move faster because it doesn't press down much on the surface 😉

Just a question related to friction. If there's no friction on the surface and we take a ball and try moving it on the frictionless surface. Will it roll or slide? If it will slide then is friction needed for a object to roll?
