Spring balance measures frictional force | Friction | Physics

Показать описание
The force required to move a wooden plank can be measured using a spring balance as shown in the video. The force without any additional weight is about 100 grams. Start adding weight to the plank, try to move it, and measure the force under which the plank just begins to move. As you add more weight, it becomes clear that the amount of force required keeps increasing. This is because the weight pushing the plank downwards increases the frictional force between the plank and surface, and so requires a greater force to overcome it.
