Off grid! Upgrade your service panel first if needed. Add a generator transfer switch. Build a small system that can run your constant loads like your refrigerator, clocks, lights, garage door opener, etc.. Don't put anything on your roof - build a pergola, ground array, carport, shed, etc.. Start small, but build something that can be added to. If air conditioning is killing you, build a system that can run a mini split or window unit at night, or all day if you are home. I can't see the advantage of being grid tied anymore, and you don't need to shell out a gigantic sum of money all at once if you do it right. There are a few people that specialize in non grid tied systems, and there will be plenty more soon. Just like battery backup, off grid will be bigger soon. If you asked for battery backup a couple of years ago, the installers would look at you like you had three heads, now they're pushing it.

I just moved and got four quotes. All quotes were about triple what the costs should have been. I'm doing the install myself for a fraction of their price and getting about three times the system. These companies have lost their minds.

That’s why you don’t put them on your roof. That’s why you do them yourselves. That’s why you don’t buy used or new junk solar panels.

Thank you for the great video and insights. You mentioned there would be a "checklist" provided at the end of the video. I'm not seeing it. Can you please add the checkist?

You mentioned that in Florida "you should not expect to pay more than $3.00 a watt". Is that before or after the tax credit? Thank you

These offending contractors DO understand the construction permitting process and codes. They understand that it's Florida, and nothing will be enforced.
It's small gubba-mint Florida after all.
