Lisa Cuddy is under new medication that it is giving her very vivid dreams about House's ability to be the guardian for her child.

When Cuddy is admitted to the hospital with what may be life-threatening symptoms, House is confronted with the fact that he is not the supportive boyfriend Cuddy needs him to be, and her surreal dreams (including a scene choreographed by Mia Michaels) may be trying to tell her something about her relationship with House. Meanwhile, the team treats a student (Brett DelBuono) whose emotional scars run deeper than his physical ones, and Taub must decide if the student is a threat to others, or a kid struggling to find his way.

Rewatching this episode, I find it really interesting as I’m analyzing Cuddy’s dreams that in each dream, House is eating candy. In the modern sitcom, House is chewing gum. In the black-and-white sitcom, House is sucking on a lollipop. In the western, House is eating some kind of toffee. In the “Get Happy” musical, House is swinging a candy cane around and sucking it. The candy is supposed to represent Vicodin. It is Cuddy’s subconscious telling her that House took Vicodin in order for him to be there for her. It finally clicked for her when she realizes that Cuddy’s sister moved her “sleeping pills”, because Rachel thinks they’re CANDY. (See the connection.) It actuality, it was House’s Vicodin. That’s why the dreams were written in this episode.

As someone who suffered a lot with nightmares as a kid, those nightmares were spot on, specially the Western and the musical: everything is going well or like an ordinary dream until it turns ugly when you least expect it. It gave me the creeps when Cuddy heard House getting shot (Western) or realized she's lying alone in the guerney (musical), cause that's exactly how I felt right before waking up and crying to my parents. Eerie stuff for me to this day.
