The Reason Why You Disconnect Your Front Sway Bar.

This is the reason why you disconnect your front sway bar. Many Jeepers when they first start out, I've been there before, want to know what benefit you receive from Disconnecting your front sway bar. While this example is not a perfect one, you should understand that disconnecting your front sway bar will allow your Jeep to be more stable. In certain situations stability is not only a concern of safety, but it's the difference between getting through an obstacle versus not getting through. Your Jeep is also putting more stress on suspension components and will break them if you do not disconnect.

Excellent demonstration of why we disconnect ... and we like all of that articulation a solid front axle offers.

Almost learned the hard way today what leaving your sway bars connected can get you in a JKU. I was teeter tottering all over the place and almost went over once. I had ZERO droop and couldn't figure out why. Great video to show the difference.

Disconnect your sway bars for any off roading under like 25 mph (almost all offroading). But definitely remember to keep them connected on-road, because highway driving with disconnected sway bars is super sketchy and you're WAY more likely to roll the truck.

This is an appropriate use. The terrain is relatively flat (his vehicle remains flat when it's disconnected ) and the risk of roll from jacking is greater than the risk of roll from a sharp turn.

As soon as it's not needed, if you have an electronic system, re connect ... If you're going more than 15mph I would also say you don't need it disconnected although it can smooth the ride. The problem is, the price of the smooth ride becomes high if an animal runs out in front of you and you swerve at 20-30mph+ with your sway bar disconnected... Big problems ... You'll be shiny side down ...

i own a 89 xj, so they flex quite a bit more than a wrangler believe it or not, so the need to disconnect my front sway bar has never been an issue when passing obstacles on the trails. but it has crossed my mind just how much more travel i would gain by doing so, just dont have quick dis connects and dont want to hassle getting things lined up when its time to hit the pavement.

The TJ's you have to manually unbolt the swaybar, with coils I would invest in some quick disconnects. If it never sees pavement go ahead and take the trackbars off too.

JKS quick disco's.... problem solved my friend, the only advantage the rubi has at that point is the D44 up front and lockers.

the majority of what you say is true, more stability by keeping cab straighter while letting the axle do most of the flexing is accurate, and although there may be certain parts that appreciate the ability to travel more, the u joints not being one of them, but hey how much are u joints compared to all the obstacles it will conquer due to the disconnect, its a fair trade off

when he was still connected, and his right tire was up on the rock, that sway must of had alot of torsion force on it, to keep the axle level like that.

you would disconnect for trails that you desire large amounts of wheel travel and just leave it disconnected until you hit the pavement, from there you get the front and back even so it makes an easier time of manually lining up the sway bar for reconnecting! peace my brotha

Awesome video bro! My question is, what happens if i disconnect my sway bar.. i have a tj sport, its not a Rubicon. Can i just disconnect the stock sway bar before a tough trail?
