Veposian Golurk’s backstory reminds me a lot of Silvally and the Beast Killer project in Sun & Moon/Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.

Silvally was created to imitate the power of the Mythical Pokémon Arceus—as shown by its ability R.K.S. system, which mimics Arceus’ Multitype—to grant it the power of every type in order to ensure the best possible type matchup against every Ultra Beast they encounter. Unfortunately, the project was deemed a failure, and they forced Silvally into an inhibitor helmet, where its name was changed from Type: Full to Type: Null
