You can use the ghost of decorative ceiling molding along the floor to prevent planting. The tiles will count as an invalid build location so dupes will never build them, so when your ready to plant the next location just cancel the ghost!

The cuddle pips are melting my heart! I'm not sure I could ranch them because I'd feel bad if any of them were just bouncing around looking for a hug and no one came by

bro this game is demanding me to use 100% more brain than any other game I have played. Loving learning something new and the challenge that comes with it. cant wait to play this game fluently as it will give me a glimpse as what I imagine an engineer might feel.

Happy new year Echo!

5:12 You can plant 17 wild thimble reed in a 32x3 room. In your demonstration, just move everything two tiles to the left and you get 2 viable planting spots next to the door.

Very good explanation of the Pip planting rules. It's always challenging to get all the details across.

For Thimble Reed Ranch setup: Dig the ranch area to a height of 4 tiles. For every 3 planted plots, dig them at 4 tiles high, followed by the next 3 plots at 2 tiles high. This layout achieves the same efficiency as a continuous 3-tile high ranch with 15 Thimble Reeds planted. You can also place 3 ladders in the 2-tile sections to prevent pips from planting. so dig 32x4 u can use the last 2 tiles to cover them with solid tile to leave space for the ranch equipment

i have a couple of things to mention:
1. the egg contents of pips are the same as a hatch, so omelets will be the same.
2. if you are making your first batch of steel for an aquatuner, you can use the steam room to liquify phosphorite into phosphorus, or sulfur into liquid sulfur. you can then pipe it to wherever you want to make a farm, and then use cooling lines to cool the tiles plant temperature.

Great video as always Echo and you've covered a whole lot of topics! I am very much of the opinion though that using the glass forge to make natural glass tiles with hydroponic tiles is by far the easiest and most efficient way of making natural tiles so would have liked to see this included.

I started playing recently and am just now learning ranching at cycle 200+. Thanks for explaining the space needed for crops, it explains why they wouldn't plant the third wheezewort in my battery box!

5:20 I think it is possible to squeze 16 timblereed. You need to plant them from far side 3 in bunch with 3 space. so that way you can plant 5x3 and 1 at the entrance.

I do wish there was a much more logical way to make more natural tiles at will. Just make it more expensive to do and we all should be happy

I just played this game last week, I don't have enough knowledge to understand evevrything on the game. But your videos helped a lot. Thank you for the guides!

I gotta say Echo, I really love your videos! Be it the let's plays or the tutorials, I prefer the let's plays for casual learning the ropes of the game while having a lot of fun watching you.

And this is for me for future reference: The Pip planting is at 8:11 (I totally will forget how it works again and then I know where I'll have to go to ;) )

I've always wondered about how to ranch pips, so this has helped me greatly, thank you.

Ah, the Pip. They're responsible for 100% of all edible planted food in my colonies. Because I'm stingy with my resources and water; I just have them mass-plant seeds that turn into Nature Reserve parks that double as gardens. Or if I have the critters, creating Glossy Drecko farms.

I got a tongue twister: "Plentiful Pretty Pips plant Pincha Pepper plants."
