Pistorius began to awaken when he was 15-16 years old. He was aware of everything around him, but no one knew. This condition was called locked-in syndrome. One day, his mother said to him, without knowing he could hear, that she hoped he would die. Pistorius faced constant mistreatment in care homes, and by the time he was 25, he had learned to communicate with his therapist. Later, he began setting up computers for communication, started a business, got married, had children, and published a memoir called Ghost Boy.
