9:31 - actually, toriel can kill you. apparently this is meant to be an accident. when your HP is extremely low ( 2, 1) and it's hit with an attack that's NOT the one that dodges you, for a split second, before the battlefield disappears and the heart shaped soul shatters, toriels sprite changes. her eyes get wide and her pupils get tiny while she covers her mouth in shock.

Just an opinion, but I think Undertale still has one of the most well written narratives to this day. The music and everything about it is perfection. I'm really looking forward to the genocide run.

fun fact: you can kill flowey and still get the true pacifist ending. if you kill him, he just wont be around to tell you that there is a better ending, but if you reload you can still do it. its because killing flowey doesnt count as a kill, since flowey has no soul

Undertale's story has so many layers and character depth for such a "short" game. The beauty of the game is that it doesn't tell it's story and themes with words alone but with the game play, the music, and everything in between.

I just realized..
during the part when "Bring it in, guys!" plays, in the Toriel, Asgore, and Monster Kid Segment, Asgore is 'trimming the hedge in the shape of Papyrus's smile'. Sound Familiar?


Another Thing
Mettaton Is A Great Character. Why? Because, he entertained and distracted the monsters away from depression until Asgore could break the barrier. I assume families sat down and watched him on TV, eating spaghetti, laughing at him, and forgetting, for a brief moment, that they were ever trapped underground.

I had a look at the comments and honestly I’m so happy I don’t see any, “FRISK IS EVIL!” comments. Personally, I think that Frisk is only being their self on the pacifist route because that’s the only route that you actually hear their name. The player is the evil one.

Great, great job, as an undertale nerd I spotted only 2 mistakes in the whole video: 1) Chara never tried harvesting monster souls but sacrifices their own in order to free the monsters, 2) Undyne never invited Frisk to her house, Papyrus did for her.
Other than that, the explanation was great and much better than any I could give without overcomplicating things

Chara's motives are interpreted differently by a lot of people. Personally I don't think they were evil when they fell. It's more likely they were suicidal. I think the pie thing was an accident. And it was implied that they wanted to free the monsters by killing themself. But it's up to individual thought. No theory is invalid.

There is proof that Chara isn't evil, and while the proof is in a theory, it was never said Chara was evil...
Also it was never said that Chara tried to take Asgore's soul through poisoning him or did Chara know that they would have a bit of control over Asriel...

You forgot to mention how Chara’s ghost follows Frisk around as the narrator of the story.
(That’s how they get flashbacks with Chara and Asriel.)

IMO, chara wasn't trying to kill Asgore. They were trying to make a pie, but misheard the recipe. It's heavily implied laughing is a common coping mechanism(Sans, Snowdrake family, etc.) in the Underground, so maybe they were trying to cope with, oh, i don't know, maybe poisoning their dad. You're right about the revenge thing though, a possible explanation is they were abused and ridiculed on the surface.
Edit: also i think Chara wanted to take 6 souls, break the barrier then either let the monsters and humans live in peace, or let the monsters avenge them. Also I am a heavy believer of the CharaNara theory
