Learn how to find the vertex, focus and directrix

Learn how to graph a parabola in when it is given in general form. To graph a parabola in conic sections we will need to convert the equation from general form to standard form by completing the square. Once it is in standard form we can identify the vertex, focus and directrix of the parabola

they you would not have a parabola, so it cannot be zero. P represents the distance from the vertex to the focus and directrix. If there is no distance there is not parabola
