Tea Onboard Tanks - The Best British Invention In Tank Design

Показать описание
During the early stages of the Second World War, British tank crews were having tea and dinner outside of their vehicles. This was time consuming, and brewing up for a cup of tea became rather dangerous!

However the invention of the Boiling Vessel made it safer for British Tank Crews to have that much needed cup of tea, out of the prying eyes of the enemy.

(Before you ask...I am using my wife’s iPad)...I remember when in my Armoured Regiment when taking over a tank (or any vehicle come to that) was to check the GUE came online and MAKE SURE the BV worked!!!
Also the loader on Chieftan and Challenger 1 was the loader....oh how I miss those oily sandwiches...and hot beans that (if you didn’t dent the tin before you put them in the BV) would squirt hot tomato sauce all over the place (or in your face!!!!)
Happy days...genuinely...

British employment legislation makes it a requirement for outside work crews to have a plumbed in water boiler, microwave oven, fridge and table and chairs. Most will also have a fold out handwashing basin with hot water and a plumbed in Tea Maker.

Telephone and Gas Engineers van's have these things and I bought a heated handwash unit and a tea machine, both use excess charging from the alternator during driving, any not required for topping up the vehicle's battery goes to the on board devices.

When I've finished driving I have two and a half litres of hot water to wash and freshen up with and the same amount for hot drinks.

Ebay UK regularly has these things for sale from vans that have been sold after three years in service and is where I bought mine.

British military aircraft also have tea machines, the boost to morale and comfort from a hot mug of tea cannot be over emphasised...

The fact tea was such a dilemma for the British they decided to make their tanks come equipped with tea makers is so British they're no longer allowed to be offended about the tea stereotype.
It'll be the same thing if we decided to add an entire McDonald's restaurant into our Abrams tanks. But we don't, because we're badass.

Fun fact: The British and Commonwealth/Empire troop’s habit of getting a brew on as often as possible greatly reduced the number frostbite/cold weather injuries suffered in WW2 and Korea compared to other nations.

Do Italian tanks have a cappuccino machine inside, just as the British tanks with the tea brewer?

I read somewhere that during the second Iraq war Americans that were working alongside the British couldn’t believe that they had tea making facilities on board which also meant they could have coffee a hot drink, which is I understand better for you in hot conditions.nWhile they had powered lemonade now whether factual or not in don’t know.
