She had a really good voice. I had forgotten how such a simple song could be difficult to hold in key while singing. I mean, there's almost nothing to the song but repetition and Brenda never misses a beat. Outstanding. And the bass player was fun to watch, as well! I remember Pat Boone singing it and trying to keep from breaking up with laughter to the ridiculousness of it. Of course, when Little richard (Penniman) sang it, it totally flipped and rocked and rolled! I guess you really had to sing and play it fast for it to really work...
