So I could theoretically create a space battle between the UNSC Infinity and a Star Destroyer?

Engineers: we understand that this technology will be dangerous in the wrong hands. Also engineers: let’s make it anyway!

Too many people already have never climbed a tree or even ridden a bike, which should be criminal considering how vital bicycles were to kids daily lives for a few hundred years but in my 36 years I can’t believe how broken our society has become since the introduction of household internet and the when cellphones became handheld computers it has destroyed the chance of my children getting to experience the amazing adventures and social interactions that I was blessed to have in the 80’s-90’s when I was a kid and life in America was still real and people shook hands and could have an hour long conversation face to face, I miss phones with curly cords and movies that had to be rewound every time, the days of seeing kids all around every neighborhood running around outside… That’s my saddest deepest thoughts at night when I kiss my kids goodnight, and it just keeps getting further from the world I want back

The scary part is, they can AI a politician or world leader or terrorist and say anything and how are we to know it’s real or not. Like the old commercial, is it real or is it memorix

There needs to be laws in place to label AI created content just like a warning lable on a pack of cigarettes

And as an artist myself, I don’t like the idea that just anybody can make art. Just tell the computer what to do and it does it all for you. No need to hold a pen, or hold a camera.

The biggest criticism stands for this like all other AI. Where did the training data come from that isn't cited, especially if it's pulling from a now database of real people's faces online.

Imagine being able to make your own TV shows or movies completely to your preferences just for you. If the technology wasn't going to be used for awful reasons I'd be excited but honestly I'm scared

This has become a top concern for all the artist who have made a living or are aspiring to.

The idea that Hollywood will lose its stranglehold on creating and perverting culture is somewhat relieving to hear. This is still scary technology, but I anticipate that there will be a growing portion of people who will demand human beings be the primary subjects and creators, not machines.

For example, there’s a healthy number of people who appreciate the tactile and physicality of practical effects in film, and as more people are exposed to classic film through these popular reaction channels, I anticipate that number to grow. Look up reactions to The Thing, or Jaws, or hell, even older films like Psycho, or The Birds. There’s something special about seeing how we worked around the limitations at the time and used various strategies to work through those limitations and produce something thrilling and visceral. Long pauses, particular angles, lighting, camera movements, shot composition, dialogue even. And the practical effects just feel closer to us than cgi.

I used to be fascinated with cgi as a kid, but the magic is lost once you see the actor talking to nothing, just a blank green screen. With physical props, there’s always something there to keep the spark alive.

I could have a lot of innocent fun with that. And I can see a lot of potential for harm and criminal activity. Fun isn’t worth the bad that will come from it. No matter what safeguards are put in place, there’s always people who can get past it.
