I’ve been a panel beater for 34 years. Why do I enjoy watching this stuff so much 😂😂
I have a series one rs turbo but I’m glad to say it’s never seen the rain from new so it’s nothing like this 1600i 🤪
You’re doing a great job. Hats off 👌

Just shows you how a small rusted area can escalate into a major repair area.. your doing a fantastic job of repairing the Escort the correct way. Keep up the good work.

Having owned my fair share of Fast Mk3's in the past my heart hurts seeing the condition of this RS. Glad you are doing a proper job lads!

Well done guys on some fantastic work. After seeing how bad those previous repairs were and how much rust you've had to cut out it makes you wonder how bad the rest of the car is.

Thank you for this video. I am impressed at how positive you remained when you kept finding more rot. I might bookmark this video for my customers to show them why I say that you can't quote a price for rust repair! Thanks for showing the making of the repair panels too, aleays love seeing people make things from scratch.

My mate bought an Escort Mexico mk1 in 1979 and it was already rusted beyond repair.

Used to do loads of these battery trays back in the 90s. When new, the battery had a plastic ‘lid’ fitted over the top of it. It was there to direct rainwater flowing off the scuttle panel from running over the battery. Most went missing when the battery was replaced. Without it, the battery electrolyte would overflow rotting through the bulkhead below the battery.

Great hands on video, a master at work. Nice to see Mojo fitting in well. A 17 year old with a grinder and not an iPhone, there maybe hope for the future. Cheers Steve.

This reminds me of the time I worked in a small garage in 1968 I was 20 years old and I was the only person that could weld, gas welding and brazing when I welded jacking points I always put extra steel into it to add reinforcements. But I have to admit welding rusty cars is a thankless task.

Enjoying the work you're doing and the great encouragement you are giving to your apprentice Mojo. Really pleased to see such an enthusiastic and promising young man in an environment where he can develop his skills with a supportive mentor. Well done. I'm not so enthusiastic about the use of cardboard boxes as a shield against grinding sparks: having given myself a scare starting an unexpected fire (fortunately extinguished quickly) I tend to be more cautious. Some aluminium foil works well. Best wishes.
