Join the Mexican Independence Day Fiesta!

Did You Know? On the evening of September 15, Mexicans all over the country gather in zocalos, restaurants, and homes to shout in unison El Grito: "Long Live the National Independence."

"The cry" was given by Father Hidalgo, calling for Mexico's independence from Spain in September 1810.

Mexican Independence Day is a fiesta filled with mariachi music, green, red and white fireworks, and the delicious smell of pozole, tacos, and mole.

A day when friends and families celebrate over a glass of tequila, pulque, or fresh fruit drinks, another year of togetherness and Mexican pride.
