1932 HMV102 Gramophone - Nessun Dorma by Jussi Bjorling

This is my latest pride and joy, an HMV 102 portable gramophone built in 1932, so currently 81 years old. These are quite tiny but produce an astonishingly rich and strong sound. This was playing with a soft (quiet) tone needle.

The recording is Jussi Bjorling singing Nessun Dorma, recorded on 27th March 1944 and released on on HMV DA1841. Not the best quality but I love it anyway. The final few notes send shivers down my spine every time I hear them.

Jussi Bjorling is regarded as possibly the best tenor that has ever lived, even to my untrained ear this recording is far superior to even the great Pavarotti.
