Tire repairs & new friends (3000km solo bikepacking adventure down the length of New Zealand)

This is the 13th video from my journey cycling down the length of NZ following the Tour Aotearoa (TA) route in early 2023! In this video I ride from Taumaranui to Whanganui, mostly on roads, as I take the easy route to get my bike repaired in Whanganui following my crash on that gravel downhill heading towards the Timber Trail. (This is also the first video where I learn how to add occasional text edits in addition to combining clips and including some background music! 🤣)

The Tour Aotearoa is a 3000 km bikepacking journey down the length of Aotearoa New Zealand, from Cape Reinga to Bluff. I had some extended leave from work at the start of 2023 and decided to give it a go. I didn't have any bikepacking experience before setting off on this adventure, and I had found it so useful to watch other people's TA journeys on youtube when I was preparing for my ride - especially videos from other more novice and inexperienced riders like myself - so, in addition to creating these videos for friends and family, I figured that if I did actually complete the ride, I would "pay it forward" and share this journey with future TA riders in case it could add another story of encouragement to others on the novice/newbie cyclist end of the spectrum who are considering the journey.
