90% or more of bicycle tires can be put on by hand. Adding the thickness of the rope in two locations actually makes it a tad harder.

When the tire bead is started in the center of the wheel, it gives you the room you need to do it by hand. That's the purpose of the dip.

I've changed ..many.. bike tires in my time that were all mounted by pushing them over the rim by hand.
