Pretty crazy when you find out that the Universe actually does look VERY similar to the brain. So many nights I have laid awake thinking about this.

This is actually the way it is, not just with Homer Simpson but with everything in existence. Simpsons called it again.

I find it plausible to think that the smallest possible scale is bridged with the largest possible scale. One universe, that is infinitely expanding into the nano scale. It would be a simple solution to the "where is it expanding" question. The universe is expanding into itself, creating an ouroboros-esque infinite loop. Isn't string theory about particles that are interacting with each other instantaniously at the cosmological scale? Would it be so far-fetched to think that at the end of the universe, you reach a point where you start the journey again at the smallest scale, at the farthest point. If the universe is like a moebius strip, there is no edge, but rather the edge is everywhere.

I suddenly had a flashback just now of how I had my first science classes in Middle school, my teacher mentioned something about how there is a simpson moment described exactly like in this video... I was 13 years old at the time and suddendly showed interest and curiosity what that video might be 6 years later xD

Homer casually having an enlightenment in front of a tv - that's actually what I learned through studying buddhist philosophy at the university - some schools (like zen or chan) believe you can get enlightened spontaneously, without years of meditation. The idea of Homer having a deep inshight into the nature of the universe (and himself) just like that, while watching tv with his family just seems super cool to me. Gotta love The Simpsons.
