Rick Field responds to Sally Field interview on Letterman Show

In April, David Letterman interviewed Sally Field about her brother's work at CERN. Now, big brother Rick Field gets a chance to respond.

was in Prof. Field's undergrad class in high energy physics (called, of course, "Field Theory" at the time); all our word problems relating to relativity involved "Sally rode on a spaceship that was moving at 0.9c for 6 months, how much older was her brother than her when she got back to earth?" fun times; he was a pretty introverted guy at the time, spent the whole class looking at the floor while talking to us, we asked him one day why he did this, and he said he found people too distracting, he would start to wonder what was going on in our lives and would forget the lesson; fun times in Gainesville :)

Use wisdom and understand that the risks far out weigh the rewards... This planet is not yours alone to mess with. Build it on some other planet if your that curious. Yes it will take a very long time for that to happen. Wisdom is knowing that knowledge of this magnitude should take time and proper precautions before tampering with it. Interesting. I am creating a quantum computer just finishing and tweaking the case the microchip I created (it has to be at one degree above absolute zero to work) and people are more concerned about Cern colliding particles than what neighbors could be doing in their homes... I would love to see one day what would happen if you got 2 boson higgs particles and let them collide... If it were possible.
