This guy gets it. So many hobby YouTubers just ignore the fact that the average person can't afford what card sets are selling for these days. Glad this guy acknowledged it.

I'm buying singles now. Booster packs rarely.

I like buying a few sealed product to start, especially for the promos and if I need the commons and then switch to buying singles. I like collecting the whole set so this feels like I get a bit of both pulling and saving money

I really enjoy ripping packs but buying singles is the way to go if your objective is buying singles. I plan on doing both. I already do this while collecting sports cards.

I love your suggestions man. I’ve started out at 41 collecting again. I’ve sought out about 7 singles so far that I love. Mostly 2-12 dollar range. I’ve got a couple of Etb’s to keep sealed and from here on like you said just be careful and thoughtful and stay within my means!

I open booster boxes just for the thrill of not knowing what im going to get. I remember getting my first secret rare and it was pure joy it was the gold crystal cave card

This is an excellent video and great advice. Me and my son are collecting and after buying a bunch of random boxes and packs we haven't pulled many good cards, maybe a few that are worth $10 bucks and one worth $20. I've invested like $400 in the past year. So then had your thought and started buying singles online, vmax and vmax rainbows, and my value of pokemon cards has greatly increased just by buying singles. For example I invested $200 in singles and now I have many good vmax, vmax rainbows, even a charizard vmax darkness Ablaze (it's the poor man's charizard haha) but still a great display for my son to have.

It's great my son can display them in his room, we have a nice set, nothing crazy, but a nice display of good cards to either sell or trade down the road. if we were to pull all those vmaxs, it would have cost us $1000+ but I only spent $200.

Excellent advice on the hobby. Still nice to chase but I do it much fewer and far between

I had bought alot of packs in the past. It is very fun but i see your point. Everyone on here has been debating it.

I do also collect every single card i dont already have, so booster box for ones i havent bought, but qfter one booster box singles only sounds fair

Just opened 32 packs of shrouded fable and got 2 v cards and 2 basic full art which are worth £2 each lol so I completely agree with you!!!

Lately buy mainly singles but would rather buy boxes just to rip and have several cards, however probably not a good way to invest or even to collect because you rarely get what you really want.

I always buy one booster box and etb but I’ve never been lucky enough, so I preferred to buy the ones I’m looking for... great channel !

IMO, as in many other things, there should be a balance. Personally, I am a little of both - an investor (sealed products) and a hobbyist. (pack openings).

As a new collector, I wholely agree with you. All my unpacking videos are singles. 😅. It satisfies me enough.

Man, I’ve been collecting baseball cards all my life and singles IS the way to go…yet there’s thud feeling when I pull pokemon cards that I can’t replicate with anything else

Totally agree that singles are cheaper when you're looking for a certain card! If you want a playset of every card in a release (4 copies), would you say singles are still cheaper? Or would buying a case or two achieve that goal for less. (I know it's expensive haha).

I opened about 300 packs or more of shining fates and never pulled the charizard and I didn’t even come close to pulling every shiny vault. Such a let down. I bought singles to fill my master set after that.

This guy is legit, and has a bit of humor as well. I hope he succeeds.

I think it’s better to get bundle boxes that come with a promotional card and a few packs inside but other then that I like single cards instead of risk, I like controlled risk and I’m conservative about it.
