I've had mine for 3 years without any problems until yesterday when I received an app notification on my phone and email that I had a "Safety Temperature Protection error". The app said I had no hot water and that it was heating, but it wasn't heating. I tried to clear the alarm but that didn't work. When all else fails, hit the big red switch. I powered the water down, counted to 10 and turned it back on. That fixed my problem. Sometimes you just have to reboot. I got lucky this time.

Is it possible to upgrade the user interface from a 2019 model to the newer interface. I have a model xe50m12ec55u1 with the older controls and the water sensor keeps turning off the heater with no water around it.

App never has connected and yesterday the heat stopped working. Replaced the heater elements and still not heating. Called reem and said it could be this control panel and are sending a new one. Never again will I buy a smart water heater.

This fuckin blows. Got my rheem gladiator less than a year ago and 3 seperate times ive had problems with it already. I only replaced my general electric one because it had been in use in our house since 1995 and i wanted to make sure i had a new reliable one while we had the garage empty to dig through our storage and re-sort. Now we have had to get to it 3 times in less than 8 months. The last 2 were within a month and both seperate problems. The first time i must say customer support really pulled through and this lady taught me how to tape the moisture sensor on the side of the machine so it doesn't accidentally get triggered and lock the valve again(which i shouldn't have to do but at least she helped) but now with this a114 shit that nobody knows how to fix because its a damn computer board? Really? If you are going to upgrade the technology of a device you should really make it an upgrade and not use cheap electronics that fail. How does a cheap heater from the 90s last 22+ years literally untouched but a heater from a company who literally specializes in them cant last even a year? Take care of your customers and take pride in your name rheem! You gotta spend money to make money!

I have no illuminuation on this user interface. No power light, code, nothing. They sent me another and had it installed, still no illumination on this "user interface". Seems like all "self help" is check your breaker/fuse and make sure power is going into it, which power is going into it! Don't buy a water heater with this electronic display, it will surely fail. ugggg
