We tested T-Mobile's 5G network in New York City, and the speeds are promising but not Verizon fast.

Was this on T-Mobile's millimeter wave or 600 mhz band 5G?

Man I hate where I live so much. I get 90 mbps down on LTE in town but have literally 0 bars at my house. In fact, just about every carrier has horrible reception at my house. The whole area (like a 10 mile radius) is pretty much a dead zone. One day I’ll have proper cell coverage... hopefully.

Can ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) or someone else please step in and standardize 5G like they did 4G? I would love to see the phone specify which 5G network you are actually on, ie mmWave or Sub-6. 5Gs6 or 5Gmm would be great indicators. Otherwise we run into the exact same issue of 5G as we did with the original mess of 4G and the horrendous WiMAX.

T-Mobile is using 600Mhz for larger coverage. It's distance vs speed. The faster the speed, the shorter the distance covered

T-Mobile announced 5g coverage in my area about a month ago. Just got the Note 10+ 5g and it is a huge disappointment compared to my OnePlus 6T 4g. First of all, I'm in a rural area, so didn't expect amazing speeds, but I certainly expected better than 4g LTE speeds, but that is a big hell no! Less than 1 mbps on 5g and connection drops often. So, out of curiosity, I switched the setting to only allow 4g LTE. It was still garbage, about 1.2 mbps and still frequent signal loss. My OnePlus 6t 4g averaged 5 to 7 mbps, without the signal loss issues. My conclusion is, at least in my area, #1 T-Mobiles 5g, is BS (false advertising) and #2 the Samsung Note 10+ 5g has garbage connectivity. Taking it back tomorrow and might give the OnePlus 7 a try or just go back to my OnePlus 6t.

Is there 600mhz automatically 5G or is there 4G 600mhz?

DoD already used up a big part of the 5G MMW frequencies (spectrum allocation for 5G), leaving less commercial use. The excerpt below explains why the U.S. is still struggling with 5G in terms of implementation. According to the National Security Implications of Fifth Generation (5G) Mobile Technologies document and excerpt to find out why the U.S. is still behind with 5G in building up capacity.

("The Department of Defense (DOD), however, holds large portions of the usable spectrum. Although DOD uses certain MMW frequencies for high-profile military applications such as Advanced Extremely High-Frequency satellites that provide assured global communications for U.S. forces, it extensively uses sub-6 frequencies—leaving less sub-6 availability in the United States than in other countries. The Defense Innovation Board (DIB) advised DOD to consider sharing sub-6 spectrum to facilitate the build-out of 5G networks and the development of 5G technologies used in the sub-6 band. While DOD has been moving toward greater spectrum sharing, it has expressed concern that sharing presents operational, interference, and security issues for DOD users. As an alternative to spectrum sharing, some analysts have argued that portions of the sub-6 spectrum should be reserved for commercial use. This would require DOD to relocate certain applications to other parts of the spectrum. The DIB estimates this approach would take around 10 years to complete, as opposed to 5 years for spectrum sharing.")

It's so fast you can see the evil spirits getting inside the phone.

Manhattan speed tests don't correlate to the rest of the usa. All four carriers never test in New York.

Those are good speeds, I cant complain. 20mbps upload is very good no what you are using

Jesus Christ. Almost 600mbs on LOW BAND 5G. Imagine it will be a hell of a lot faster once the acquired sprint spectrum is deployed using the new radio

Verizon has terrible range but it is faster, T-Mobile is 500gb slower but has alot better range...

No one really needs this, get it if you want but if anything I recommend waiting a while for prices to drop.

I did it on full bars and was pretty much as fast as my WiFi

Not a reliable way to test, you pretty much have no other users or traffic on that 5G band. No others using 5G yet, just wait once couple million people switches go 5G compatible devices, you'll be lucky if you can see 100mbps speeds.
