Winston is the everyman. Love him so much

I think how it played out was perfect. There is no elaborate backstory...just literally a normal guy who applied for position and got the job.

Winston is my favorite and would not want anyone else playing him in the movies except for Hudson.

Hudson is a class act. The world needs more Ernie Hudsons.

"A group of nerds with technologically advanced laser-like weaponry that no one had ever seen before fighting ghosts. No children could ever watch this or be interested in this at all!"

Back then, Hollywood had the sense to adapt to their audience. After seeing how much kids liked their franchise, they made "Ghostbusters II" a lot more deliberately kid-friendly.

Winston is and has always been my favorite Ghostbuster!

Not sure why the cast and crew were surprised about kids liking the movie? I was there. It was marketed towards us kids, we had T Shirts and lunchboxes available on release.

Ernie was a better choice for Winston. He just seems more the guy I'd expect to see if all I knew was the short background of the character. In the end, Ernie rocked as Winston.

When I was a little boy at Toys R Us Winston was the first figure I picked.

At least he's gotten more respect since then. The after credits scene for Ghostbusters: Afterlife with him and Janine honestly makes me tear up a little.

"I came in looking for a steady paycheck. But busting ghosts with the guys taught me not to be afraid. That I had the tools and I had the talent. I started this business with one employee. And I've grown it into a thriving global enterprise. I may be a businessman, but I will always be a Ghostbuster."

I have always been a huge Ghostbusters fan including the Xbox 360 game. An interesting factoid, with the exception of Rick Moranis the main cast of the movies reprise their roles in the game, including Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis writing the script for it. In the dialogue of the game it is revealed Winston had completed his doctorate, I believe in engineering, expanding his role in the Ghostbusters universe. It was seen as a successor to the films as the cast was getting a little old for another adventurous film.

I figure the way it goes, it makes sense. The three main characters started the business and took up the entire first half of the story... the "origin story" so to speak. And then they brought in another guy to help out as their business expanded. It never seemed to me like Winston's character was "held back" or didn't get enough attention or whatever. I figured it was because he was brought in late in the game and was just a secondary character to begin with. I liked Winston just fine, and he was a great addition, but it's not necessarily that there wasn't enough of him in the movie. Rather, once his character is introduced, there's not enough movie left for him to be in that much, especially having a backstory and all that.

As soon as it hit TV screens, and the network (ABC I think) was desperate to get it, kids definitely loved it. The characters were just too darn entertaining.

If Eddie had taken role he would overshadowed Murry and rightman.

I would likes to see Winston version of the movie with his back story. He could of pulled it off and people would have like it still

Yeah! Love how this was the opposite of TMNT where the movie was so popular they made a cartoon. And the TMNT cartoon was so popular they made a movie. They were my favorite cartoons of all time!!
