Kinematics 20 - Sign convention for motion under gravity

preview_player
Показать описание
Motion under gravity implies motion under the influence of earth near the surface so that the particle has a constant downward acceleration due to gravity (g).
Positive direction for vertical axis is defined arbitrarily. If upward direction is taken positive then acceleration is a= -g; and if the downward direction is taken positive then acceleration is a= +g.

Best explanation I got. Thank you so much sir. I would have lost my confidence in JEE exams, as I was unable to understand the sign convention. But you saved me. I'm grateful.
