Spooky looking Weevil tries to drill into my finger

Apologies for the shaky frame, I tried to stabilize the video, since I had to shoot it on the quick while the little critter was on my hand.

This bug, I believe Curculio glandium, flew into my room and landed on my hand. It immediately tried to see if it could eat me :D They're surprisingly strong (as you can see by how far it pushes the skin in), and have little teeth on its snout with which they can drill into acorns.
I think it looks totally adorable, with a face reminding me of Jack Skellington.

That little guys alright hes just taking a look at the world of your finger. When a weezil drills they rock their heads back and forth to dig, it would be a very noticeable and distinct behavior.

It's not trying to drill you, when they drill acorns they move their head in a distinctive side to side rotation. I think it's just trying to figure out what it's standing on.

It's all fun and games until the weevil actually starts to pierce your skin and it starts to burrow inside your skin

They can stab through acorns… so if it felt it necessary it could easily find its way into your skin. It’d be like a mosquito, except instead of a fine needle it’s using a screwdriver to stab you.

Luckily it was just tasting you because it has no idea what it’s standing on and a lot of insects get weirded out by human sweat and other moisture’s… sometimes getting curious enough to try it.
