For those who are out of the loop, this is functionally identical to the RetroGame RS-97 (also sold as the SouljaGame Handheld) except it has a larger battery, internal SD card that's accessible from behind the battery, and an analog stick which isn't actually analog and just clones the D-pad. The reason this handheld will not receive the latest firmware which the RS-97 can run is the screen lacks the bandwidth to display more than 30 Hz. All of these retro games are designed to run on a 60 Hz display, so every game is going to display jerkiness and screen tearing. The only way to fix it is to replace the screen.

It's basically a Dingoo I had over 10 years ago

If you want to test emulation accuracy and performance you can't just run random games. Here is a list of demanding heavy hitters, save it somewhere please:

For Gameboy: Shantae and Kirby's Dream Land 2
For Gameboy Color: Rayman 2, Marble Madness and Pokemon Crystal (test if it saves and loads properly and if you can set the clock ingame, if the time passes etc)
For Genesis: Streets of Rage 2, Vectorman and Castlevania:Bloodlines (check the music)
For 32X: Mortal Kombat 2 and Doom
For NES: Battletoads and Castlevania 3
For SNES: Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Super Mario RPG

I would love something like this if it had a bigger screen

Glad I saw this before purchase - the screen tearing is a no go for me.. the one that seems to be the best bang for buck right now is the RG300 without screen tearing.

There’s an alternative firmware improving drastically the performance and adding pcengine, ps1 emulators....

Great video. Can you please recommend the best handheld without screen issues and with preloaded games? Perhaps just an bigger screen which goes up to ps1 or all the games listen in q9 at least ?

Do they make an RS97 w/ 60Hz IPS without the notch/slot? I just bought 3 from amazon (different sellers) and only 2 have the notch. How do I tell if it’s the better screen? Some of the alibaba sites said after a certain date the IPS screen no longer had the notch. I appreciate your help!

Quick question. Do you know of any handheld consoles that you can add games to

Like say you want to play Super Mario Bros. Can you like add an SD card to it and then pay the game?

Like this console has some games built in but I’m wondering if I can add more to play games not on it or maybe Rom Hacks

So basically is there a game console I can emulate games from an SD card onto without having to hack it?

To bad it doesn't have 2p support. I like the retro fc 2p ability with a 2nd controller plugged in the handheld but hate it's internal software of retro fc I can't stand. This is the best handheld that I have found.

some issues I've encountered, its emulator for whatever reason refuses to work with game boy games not booted via the games tab (if you try to boot game boy games the system locks up), The only capcoms system play games I've gotten to work ironically were already on the console itself, I've had no luck with getting any neo geo games not included on the unit itself to work period with it. Given the number of buttons the system has, I was quite a bit annoyed as far as I can tell that there is no way to put the sega megadrive emulator into 6 button mode making certain games needlessly unplayable which is sad as it seemingly is one of the only emulators I've encountered that otherwise seems to have no issues with Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Trilogy the hack. Also I found some included games will crash (metal slug x) and one example of sheer stupidity on there part where the person putting the roms on included wario ware twisted twice... not one of them patched meaning it isn't even remotely playable (not that I could ever get past the intro in twisted even using the patched rom, but that's another story). Ocassionally it powers on to a white screen and takes several restarts to get it working again.
