Okay. So I'm not a _die hard_ Star Wars fan, I'm more of a Lord of the Rings person. BUT, that being said, I do really _really_ love Star Wars. So far, I'm of the opinion that Ahsoka is "meh" but watchable. It's not Rings of Power bad. It's not as bad as Kenobi, Book of Boba Fett, or The Sequel Trilogy. That being said, it's not great either. And it's hard to really say what's holding it back. It doesn't feel cut from the same cloth as some of the other bad Disney Star Wars projects, but it still feels like they missed the mark on what could have been great.

Good things: I think they did well on the costumes. Seeing the droid Huyang in live action makes my heart happy. The opening crawl was a nice touch. The music is pretty good. I think the casting is pretty good. The opening scene with Baylon and Shin was really cool, although it suffered as you said from the captain being stupid enough to let them on his ship, I wish they'd found a more clever way to get them on the ship. Sabine's "force sensitivity" _could_ be a good thing, as George has mentioned (and Yoda backs this up in the movies) that the Force IS within everyone, but most lack the natural ability (i.e. Midichlorians) necessary to harness it, but with enough training, it's not _necessarily_ lore breaking to teach non-natural Force yeilders to use the Force. The sets are pretty good, Lothal translated to live action really well. The fight between Ahsoka and the Inquisitor guy was pretty cool. Morgan being a Nightsister is pretty cool, though it does raise questions as to why she didn't use her Magick to fight Ahsoka in the Mandalorian.

Bad things: Captain of the transport ship being stupid. New Republic being stupid. Ahsoka finding a map via a video game puzzle that is less fun because we the viewer are not the one doing the puzzle. The fact that an ancient temple has a map to a recent hideout of someone thought to be dead. Also the "find the map" thing reminds me too much of Rise of Skywalker which is never a good thing. Assasin droids with self destruct capabilities capable of a nuclear bomb. Hera acting sort of "Karen-ish" (one could argue it's because she's a general and being disrespected, but it still felt kind of "Karen-ish" to me). Sabine acting like a dumb teenager even though she's like 30 at this point.

Lore shattering idiotic things: Sabine being able to use the force. As I said, there is some stuff to back this up and theoretically it could work. I appreciate that at least they didn't Wonder-Rey her to be good at the Force right from the get go and she's really struggling (as she should, since she's not Force sensative). But knowing Disney, I doubt that they do this well. Sabine will probably being one of the bestest Force users ever despite having no natural ability. Really, if they were to pull it off well, the MOST she'd be able to do would have her senses heightened and maybe she could ever so slightly push/pull objects. And then of course there's the lightsaber thing. Qui Gon must be rolling in his grave that he is the only Star Wars character to actually die from being stabbed with a lightsaber. Not only that, but Disney Star Wars has a problem with characters not staying dead, lighsaber or no. But It really didn't have to be that way. Shin could have cut off Sabine's arm, or used the Force to throw Sabine against the wall and knock her out. ANYTHING besides _yet again_ having a character survive a lightsaber stab.

I probably missed some things but that's my basic assesment as a pretty invested Star Wars fan- that is, _George Lucas_ Star Wars fan. There's some things that are pretty good, some things that suck. I'm interested in seeing where the rest of the season goes, and I think it at least seems like it was made by fans of Star Wars, unlike most of Disney's Star Wars shows/movies. But it's definitely mid-tier.

Thank you for this video. You summed up my feelings and thoughts perfectly. IMO, it is said what they did to the characters. I also fear what they will turn Thrawn into. In the novels, he was such a cool character. But looking at what Disney has done to Ahsoka and Sabine - I fear he will be turned into a fool who did not manage to return to his galaxy for...reasons.
The thing with Sabine: she should be dead by now, as sad as it might sound. A saving grace might be that Ahsoka "does not need her to be a Jedi, just herself." Sabine was always the most herself in her art. Maybe she will tap into the Force via her art. I think this may be necessary in order for her to be able to communicate with the Purgill (space whales, being able to travel in hyperspace). Maybe they will lead Sabine and gang to Ezra/Thrawn. This may all be just my nerdy speculation and hope though.
Otherwise, I don't get why it isn't enough for Sabine to be a Mandalorian. These were, at least in the past, pretty able to hold themselves against Jedi. If it now becomes general habit for them to be trained in the Force, because this is, according to Disney something that everybody can do, Mandalorians will become OP like nobody else. And consequently boring, if nothing is a threat to them anymore (except for old age).
Well, we will see. I am sceptical. IMO, Baylan Skull is the best part up to now in this series.

Thank you for your usual excellent content. The problem star wars producers have run out of idea's and lot of fans remember the first star wars film with awe and the latest does measure up to this.

A slow explore can work: Indiana Jones in Lost Ark, Star Lord in Guardians. (there is a guy with Indie but Indie says barely anything)

I think it's possible to do it with little interaction between characters but in this case they lacked the talent to pull it off.

So I've heard a lot about how dull her personality is in the series, but if people remember, the last time we saw her, she was at a pretty low point. She left the Order because they basically turned their backs on her when she was framed for the bombing of the Jedi temple. In Rebels she learns of how Anakin gave in to the dark side, and committed many atrocities as Vader. While she still has a strong moral compass, to retain the joy and vibrance she once had would be near impossible after all tragedies that befell her since the end of Clone Wars, so it makes sense for her to be as serious as she is now. I think that they also have a good opportunity here to possibly brighten her up as the series goes on as well. She, Luke, and Grogu are the future of the Jedi, and I think there's some hope to be had there, and that may brighten her spirit a bit as we progress. Start her at a low point, and gradually get her out of the guarded shell of hopelessness she's been in for all this time.

My main reason to keep watching would be Baylan played by Ray Stevenson he seems like such an interesting Sith or dark Jedi.
He is so calm and controlled unlike Kylo Ren or even Vader so yeah im curious to see how his story pans out.

For me, Disney Star Wars sucks at storytelling. After watching the first two episodes, I asked myself “Who wrote this stuff ?” So far I get the impression that this show was written by amateurs without any supervision or oversight, produced by people who do not understand pacing, and directed by people who do not understand acting, the characters in the animated series were definitely more “animated” than the actors here. One thing in particular really irritated me - A light saber is not just a sword, it is super heated plasma hot enough to melt metal, once it enters the body all the internal organs would be vaporized. Sabine should have died! It is especially disheartening because it was written by Dave Filoni, who is supposed to be George Lucas’ apprentice and should know better.

I agree with you on all points. the media they plucked the characters from - clone wars, rebles, zahn's thrawn novels - is all so vibrant and exciting and these characters are not it. they're devoid of most of their personality and the nonsensical writing makes them look incompetent most of the time. so yeah, ahsoka is offensively bad imo, considering the resources they had to work with (also it's giving other star wars stuff a bad name, if I had a penny for every person I've seen get dissuaded to watch rebels because of this series, I'd have a lot of pennies actually)

but yeah. good to see another vid from you! keep up the good work!

I think the only people I've seen who like the Ahsoka series so far are Star Wars nerds, notably those who are die-hard George Lucas fans and who have watched/read everything Star Wars. Anyone who likes well-written TV shows who also happens to love Star Wars, they are kind of like, 'meh'. Episode 3 had some decent stuff in it, but in general it feels like a fan-flick to re-engage Star Wars nerds to the franchise.

Shin Hati is the first and only character in Disney's Star Wars to pique my interest. I intend to follow her storyline and skip all the other scenes.

I hope somebpdy will make a compilation of all the numerous booty shots in Ahsoka. Atleast it will be worth watching once for my toxic male gaze. How did Feloni get away with so many booty shots in these woke times anyway?

After watching the most recent episode, 4, it is meh. Nothing happened to drive the story forward.
