Mid-side EQ is a powerful way to give more clarity and separation when mixing ambient music without sacrificing width or making your songs sound thin. In this video I explain how mid-side processing works and demonstrate how to use it in a mixing context.

Another great video. Would love to see how to approach dealing with phasing issues when using samples for ambient since (in my experience at least) many sound great in stereo but collapse to mono terribly.

Hey thanks for the video! One question, is that eq a linear phase one, or regular?

I think your mid-side decision helps make that shiny sound more of the focal point, but it makes the track sound too harsh to me at the same time, as the mids may have been congested but they helped to counterbalance the strident sound on top. But regardless, I do think you did a good job leading into the discussion of mid-side eq, the flow and pacing is good.
