Histology of the thymus

The thymus is crucial in the development of a normal immune system that works to defend the body against pathogens and its own abberant cells, and does not attack its own healthy cells. We talk about T lymphocytes coming from the thymus, but what does this really mean? I can show you these cells under the microscope.

Thymus is the site of maturation of T lymphocytes
the thymus can be identified (histologically) by hassall’s corpuscles ( the slightly big pink circle inside the medulla )
