LIGHT TRACER - GPU RENDERER FOR THE WEB - FULL TUTORIAL /WALK-THROUGH

This is just an incredible GPU renderer that would do a lot of good stuff to artists.
This Web based engine allows the user to upload an OBJ model and have it progressively render in the browser using your PC’s GPU (both discrete and integrated GPUs are supported). You can add mesh lights, HDRI environments, and create two-layer physically-based materials. Light Tracer is currently free to use and compatible with Chrome and Firefox.

This tool would be a revolutionary product and you can't imagine how simple rendering would be when this is fully developed.

Awesome find man! I can only imagine something like this eventually advancing to cloud based gpu rendering where it doesnt even need your own gpu, just like Googles new Stadia gaming service. Experiments like these are exactly what the 3D community needs, especially for people just starting out and not being able to afford the high end stuff. I can see this being great at some point for mobile too. Thanks for sharing, good stuff!

ok, the idea of making a web browser rendering environment in itself is a good idea I guess! but I can't c the point! I mean if it uses my resources then why should I use this? obviously when talking about small scene like this it all looks easy and fast. but how about working with a 4GB scene or more? do u know how long it'll take to upload the scene? not to mention ppl who still have limited GBs/month.
I mean I don't wanna be rude but this sounds like u take the elevator, go to ur neighbor on the 11th floor ask him in, take a glass of water then go back to ur apparent where u have plenty of glasses and the same source of water!
unless I'm missing something here?!

It's interesting, but why I should use it? It use only my own GPUs in my PC, so there is no advantage. Why I should waste my time by exporting my scene and upload it to browser, if I can choose one from many renderers and render direct in my 3D app? This have no sense while is impossible connect to render farm, or create my own render farm by connecting more PCs.
