For the people who aren't aware: they didn't find the remains of a murder victim, they found someone's ashes. That's why they put them back, whoever that was, their family put them there. They're not going to accidentally unbury someone amd not put them back

⚠️ WARNING: Don’t read this if you’re eating or easily upset….

I wanna explain something here I think some people don’t know. I didn’t either till I physically had it happen with me…

I think maybe the reason the whole bag & box was placed rather than “scattered” is maybe cause the family waited too long to do it so they couldn’t be physically scattered anymore….

Ashes don’t stay as “ashes” for long… pretty quickly, they turn into a very hard clump, very hard in the bag (almost all ashes even in permanently sealed urns are inside either a plastic or cotton bag, just like this one)…. & just to clarify, no, it definitely isn’t just “from moisture in the air”. Moisture in the air alone wouldn’t create a brick that never loosens again. Our box was in a room that had a built-in dehumidifier running 24/7 too, but asides from that… you can just tell. You really can…

I think the reason it happens is cause things like fats ect are still present to some extent & kinda act like a glue after a small amount of time (I don’t know for sure if that’s the reason, that’s just my logical assumption).

I learned this the hard way when I had a scatter box as a temporary thing (due to it being unexpected & not having enough time), but intended on having a custom urn made as the permanent place & planned on having them transferred to the custom urn later…. But I didn’t realise ashes harden & it happened within months. So the scatter box will now remain as is & I’m considering having some things added rather than swapping altogether…

Seeing this video, really makes me remember that & I think it’s highly possible the family didn’t realise that happens to ashes either & by the time they were ready to scatter them, perhaps scattering was no longer an option so maybe that’s why they were placed in the spot, still inside the bag instead…

⚠️ I think it’s important for everyone to know & I’m not in any way trying to be disrespectful… I wish I had known!! If I’d known, I would’ve been onto having that permanent urn made PRONTO!! I don’t want anyone else to have that same “😱😔” moment I did so if this can teach even 1 person who might need that knowledge in the future, then it was worth writing…

The one thing I've learned watching magnet fishing videos is don't report shit you find, you get in more trouble doing the right thing. No good deed goes unpunished.

They put it back because they thought it was the cremated remains of someone’s loved one that they put there. Probably because the person loved that area. That’s my guess

Respect to these people for leaving it tucked safely where the family put it instead of taking it out of the river. We need more people that are responsible and respectful❤❤

It’s someone’s ashes, the lid came off the box, someone put their loved one there so they put them back where they found them.

People discard their family members ashes in rivers, lakes and other bodies of water all the time. It is unfortunate that so many do so in this manner.
Regarding "calling the police", as so many in coments are upset about. Is perfectly fine. The police do not have records on every cremation burial. As it was a cremation burial, there is no crime here. Respect the dead and their families and do exactly as you have done so hear.

Thank you for the respect you have shown for this individual.
