One reason why this is so funny is not just because this is not a "dark" Batman, but because movie trailers in the '60s were NOTHING like this. They weren't edited in this style at all, had much longer takes, and often a documentary-style narrator who just wouldn't shut up. The "modern" trailer didn't start to emerge until the '80s or so - and even then, Disney and certain other studios continued to do them in the "newsreel" style.
