I love hearing scientists talk about their research! The dedication needed for this kind of long term experiment must be immense.

Both Richard and his father are my two biggest inspirations in life. I want to be just like them.

Can someone please help me understand this better ? i have a question to ask. From what i've understood, bacterias evolving to the citrate positive point was a very low probability and it happened thanks to an accumulative process. My question is; how every little mutation change step can somehow serve the end result which is becoming citrate positive ?

It's ridiculous to claim that an event is too improbable to have happened, if you've seen it happen before your eyes. The mutations that produced an anoxic citrate transporter had a 1 in 10^-17 chance of happening yet we know they happened, in less than 30 years, because we see it happened. Such a rare event could occur, was bound to occur in fact, because of the huge number of cells.

Creationist's question: Isn't it ridiculous to believe in the occurence of highly improbable events?

Evolutionist's answer: No
