The Best Outboard Motor in the World ! Evinrude 250hp e-tec G1.

The most powerful and one of the best outboard engines I have ever tested. 2-stroke V6 DFI engine with perfect 2-stroke sound. Perfect motor for heavier boats or for speedboats because of its incredible torque and light weight.

The motor is mounted waaay too low.
The cavitation is probably level with the bottom of the keel. With the outmount its too low. General rule is for every 12inches mounted away from the transom, go 1 inch up.
At full throttle I can see the top bolts of the lower mount above the water.
The anti cavitation plate must skim above the water.
It will go much faster and be lighter on fuel with the motor mounted higher.
Probably plane quicker too

Sadly the Canadians killed the Evinrude brand, I ran a 1985 90HP for over 25 years with no issues

When this thing came out, there was nothing that could respond to it. The 250s and 300s offered an almost perfect symbiosis of 2 stroke and 4 stroke benefits with almost none of the drawbacks of either. What a letdown and mistake the g2 was

I’m really considering buying a boat with a blown engine and doing a conversion. I really want a 28 foot bow rider formula. Then put on twin 300 G2’s since I’ve seen a bunch of affordable pairs. My question is about the engines. How reliable are the G2’s? I see haters and lovers on those outboards. All I really care about is ease of maintenance. I’m mechanically inclined so I think it would be easy for me to work on them.

I have this exact motor, but when i try to aceelerate to full throttle the rpm its stuck in 1000 rpm, its like the emm is limiting the motor, what is causing this issue?

BRP knew Evinrude sales were down, covid came at the right time to save face for the brand. People chose fourstroke for many reasons, easy of service being one, no sperical skills or tools reauired.

Have an Evinrude 60, love it to death - not 1 issue after 10 years, ZERO smoke, SS prop and runabout 4.35 goes like a dog shot in the @ss - BEST 2 strokes ever created
