The spread of the coronavirus has pushed the pause button on one of the world’s biggest economic powerhouses: China.

China makes up a third of world manufacturing and is the world's largest exporter.

Decades of globalization have created supply chains so deeply interconnected that when there are issues in China’s economy, it’s felt across the globe.

As the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise around the world, there are deep concerns over the potential economic impact of the virus.

Emanuela Campanella breaks down the noise.

"For a recession to happen, the coronavirus would have to reach pandemic levels"

Well, that got outdated REAL quickly.

My humble opinion is that we are facing a period of time like the Great Depression. We are now in the beginning of the Bear Market and it will take a year or two until we see the bottom. There were huge rallies during the 1929 crash all the way through 1930 to 1931. Be careful out there and stay healthy!

millions of people may die but It’s all about money to these people. This is why this happened. They placed wealth over health. Greed.

A fed rate cut is a ridiculous attempt to stop the carnage. Easy money in the market for what??? This is a supply issue- not a demand issue.

I was in China right before the coronavirus, actually just made a video about his topic, but a huge majority of companies all rely on China for goods, now that the country is being locked, that's why the economy is going to likely crash soon.

Everyone for the most part is missing the real concern here. It is not the fatality rate but rather the need to focus on how to reduce the number of people that will require hospitalization. Why, because there is not enough hospital beds to deal with it.

Reports out now 30 to say 70 percent of the population will contract the corona virus. While 80 percent can be handled at home, 15 to 20 percent will require hospitalization of which 6 percent will be critical.

There are 330 million people in the USA and Canada has 37 million.. Do the math. Even on the new low number, hospitals will still be over loaded. No health care for anyone but coronavirus patients.

Washing hands is not enough. Citywide quarantines will be needed to protect uninfected areas. Canada and the USA will have to work together on this for it to work, Unfortunately Canada is doing nothing.

Once this kicks into gear and say hospitals lose 20 percent of their health professionals and support staff, well I think you get the picture.

Feel sorry for health professionals, support workers and their families having to deal with this in affected areas of the country.

The economy was long, long overdue for a recession and had been propped up by the Fed and share buybacks for too long. A recession was "not allowed" to happen, interrupting the normal economic cycles. The coronavirus, while serious as a health issue, was simply the pin that pricked massively overvalued equities. I hope that the Fed et. al. will be smart enough to not continue the same fiscal irresponsibility that got the economy into such an overly inflated bubble again. Recessions are normal and necessary as part of the economic / business cycles.

God I hope the people in China recover from this, as well as every other nation that has been effected by this virus.

I would like to hear about consequences for the Chinese government, get manufacturing out of China, strict travel out of China, a bill for the aid packages.

This attitude is precisely why business and government should be separate entities.. with the peculiar case of extensive lobbying in US, this is simply not the case.. and now people will pay with their lives for it

Why is the most recent video on the impact of covid on global economy 8 months old? Why has there been no analysis of the damage to the economy during the last 8 months? There is not a single recent video updating how the coronavirus has affected the economy. It's all 8 months old
