I felt like this video is much more appealing then the previous videos of this channel. The tone, the linking between mistakes, the simplifications they all are greater than before. If you tried something new I must say that I liked that much more.

I'm writing my first novel and your channel is a vault of wisdom for me. I'm 50yo but I've been a DM during 30 years.

I'm glad that you're finding joy and fulfillment in creating and are able to pursue it more!

I've always loved fantasy too, and as I get older, I realize that it's not a longing that is fulfilled. That romanticism and nostalgia and other similar feelings we get when we read about fantasy worlds stems from a longing that was planted in our hearts like a deposit, a longing for the far-off country that we're made for. Jesus established that beautiful kingdom and invited us to participate in it. It's both here and not fully here yet. I get little glimpses in the everyday things like my children smiling as we ride bikes through a field on a summer evening and in the profound things like a woman praying for my dying wife at the hospital and her making a full recovery. As history unfolds we see so much darkness and pain, and yet we long for redemption and write it into our fantasies because we believe it's possible deep down.

That picture of you living on an old farm in nature with a young family and finding fulfillment in your creative pursuits is so beautiful, and I don't think it's because we were taught to think it is but that it fulfills a deep longing in our souls. We love to create because we were made to be like our Creator. We find so much joy in nature—in creation—because of the beautiful mind of its Designer. And the love and happiness we find in our families even reflects the love shared within the Trinity, a love that overflowed so much so that it had to pour out into the creation and to beings capable of similar love.

Anyway, thank you for sharing your story and your creative content. I hope you find what you're looking for.

Objection. Anakin's downfall started with hints in episode 1. This story spanned 3 films and not just the third. Also there's a novel that explains even more what happend. I think writing a book compared to a movie script is two pairs of shoes. You can take your sweet time in a novel. Not so in a movie.

This was a wonderful and very helpful video. I love the idea of the plot synergy matrix, but I'm having some trouble envisioning how it can be effectively used in a story with several main point-of-view characters. For stories like Game of Thrones and The First Law books, with their complex characters and individual plots that connect and interact eventually, how would you modify the matrix to accommodate for this?

This video is quite insightful ^^

I am an aspiring writer who has sorta been wanting to write fantasy for the longest time. I've written a few short stories. But lost my footing and lately have had a hard time really figuring out what it is I'd like my world to look and feel like and how establishing all the elements of it.

I’m an amateur writer writing my first book, thank you so much! This helped a ton!

By the way, excellent choice of banner! For the Alliance!

Just read, "Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe." It had all the standard book elements of a coming of age story, but it fell flat.

I think the issue was that there was no tension. The tone and pacing were somehow the same, no matter the action occurring in the story.

So, it just goes to show you can have all the key elements for a great story, but lacking diversity in tone and energy makes everything seem dull and lifeless.

Can you make a template for the plot matrix?

Unlike the Disney films, the prequels had good ideas that weren't executed as well as they could have been. It going out of control in a short time was the point because all the conflicts set up in the last 2 films were piled up to a point where the dam just broke. It's not a bad way to do a character's fall, it just could have been shown better. Flawed as it is, Revenge Of The Sith is my favorite of the movies. It's the culmination of setting up the origins for a character that was menacing in the original films but felt hollow. It's undersandable to want to know the man inside the suit and how he got there. Thus the prequels tried to deliver that. They also took inspiration from Wheel Of Time, before that series was finished, for the main character arc. But hey, George Lucas got the whole losing a hand thing in his parallels years before it happened in Wheel OF Time. Even stuff that was panned in Attack Of The Clones was just poor executions. Anakin hates sand, because of his past on a desert world, but he didn't want to get into the traumatic details of his past, so he fumbles a simpler explanation. The animated Clone Wars TV show redeemed that for me with the much better and more iconic line He says To Ahsoka. "The desert is merciless, it takes everything form you." They totally fumbled the angle of Anakin not knowing how to handle his emotions with his crush. He feels awkward because he tries to express himself and show emotion but he's been taught to repress it for all his years with the Jedi.
