Some of the best people you will ever meet. Extremely effective activists and top-notch donators, child care, soldier supporters etc.

I’m a Christian. I’m certainly no expert on the Lubavitcher. But that modern Rabbi saying that these people have “quick easy answers” is insane. These people study volumes and debate endlessly. There’s nothing easy about this

The Rebbe brought joy, connection, pride and Jewish identity to the Jewish world when we sorely needed it

I'm a Lubavitcher who was born in 1996 after we couldn't see the Rebbe anymore but I feel very proud being part of this amazing movement which is so enriching I can't describe it in words.

I worked with some of these guys in Pittsburgh in the 80s. Nice people.

What I think is interesting about American Jewry v British Jewry is that whilst there are large amounts of Chasidim in the US, establishment Jewry isn't Orthodox, but more liberal. But in the UK, the mainstream is Orthodox and it is now common for Chabad rabbis to lead mainstream large London shuls, like Yitzchak Schochet or Herschel Radar.

the Rebbe giving out cups of the wine blessed by his holy lips. Remembering receiving his blessing personally with a smiling face...such memories!

It's interesting that the Chabad Movement seems to place little value on an aesthetic environment. If this video is truly representative of the Crown Heights community, there are few, if any, decorative elements in interiors or exteriors. This extends to personal appearance, without concern for the dictates of fashion clothing.

The BBC couldn't have picked "a better narrator" than Sarah Dunnant...today 71 of age.

She is 1/2 Welsh & 1/2 French but her lack of knowledge in History, "helped" her make fatal mistakes in her narration.
Unforgivable for a BBC messenger.

43:05 That is not true. According to Halacha you are Jewish if your mother is Jewish. There is no need to be religious orthdox

Baruch HaShem for the great work CHABAD does around this world. I admit it has taken many years fully to accept the teachings of CHABAD. It will dedication and many hours of studies of Tanya especially being truthful to one's inner self !

Wonderful to see 770 in the late 80's, but the underlying narrative is deeply disingenuous and tries from the outset to portray Chabad Lubavitch and the hasidic way-of-life in an unfair, negative light. I don't mind secular people, atheists, non-Jews, anyone! But I think a 'documentary' has a duty to try see beyond its own social, cultural, and spiritual presuppositions.

The only real benefit to this video, is seeing all the old familiar faces. The commentary is ludicrous and sometimes even blasphemous.

20 seconds in and the narrator already needs to shut up. So cool seeing all the old clips but man is the commentary inaccurate and biased

This documentary is extremely superficial and neglects the deeply spiritual but rooted in the world aspects of Chasidism and also the historical roots of the movement which was revolutionary to Judaism. Chabad uniquely of other Orthodox movements is accepting of the world, of others, outward-looking and modern as well as traditional and biblical. It is truly a model for the world in living a godly life. Along with the Amish I admire it very greatly as a social system and lifestyle; simlicity and godliness, compassion and kindness. We need the old Judaeo-Christian models that grounded Western civilisation more than ever in this modern life, with all its unhappiness and turmoils.
