We are excited to share with you a new web series where Global Communications Manager Tim Sweeny takes you behind the scenes of our journey to becoming more sustainable.

In this first episode of the series, Tim unleashes his inner nordic skiing athlete and tells you more about the improvement we've made in our winter sports products like the development of the  S/MAX eSkin Nordic ski, our first ski constructed with a sustainable mindset.

Watch out for special guest Jessie Diggins — Olympic gold medalist (now Tour de Ski winner) and glitter aficionado who gives Tim (part-time alpine skier) a call for much needed Nordic skiing pro tips.

Good to see Salomon taking some steps in the right direction. Still lots of work to do but you gotta start somewhere. Oh, and Tim is crushing this hosting thing.

Hey! Awesome video, very nicely put together!
I have a couple of questions with regards to the design decision of making the skies from a mixture of materials.
1. What's supposed to happen to the skies when they are no longer usable?
2. How does the fact that it's a mixture of wood (correct me if I'm wrong) and recycled PET affect the end-of-life? - I imagine that before it was a mixture of materials skies could be recycled as anything made of wood.

Great that you try to get more sustainable. Maybe can all outdoor brands (included Salamon) increase quality of many of its products. If the life span can be increased you can do the most impact! But of course that maybe not go hand in hand with the business strategy =)

First of all it's awsome that you do adress such issues.
So you covered packaging and materials that are used. But what about the production process and the lifespan and lifecycle of your gear. The production process consumes a lot of energy (I guess) and a lot of waist (spare material you can't use). Are there any measures to reduce the energy consumption of the production? And is there an in line recycling cycle?
And Furthermore I guess one of the most important things nowadays is sustainability. So do you in any way adress the seasonality, the use it once and then throw it away society, the every year something new consumer? (E.g. through campains, non seasonal gear, recycle friendly gear etc...)
