I'm hoping old Klaus does what he says. He once made the comment that those who aren't willing to do what they say will be left outside the cities and will have to fend for themselves. I'm hoping they do just that. Leave us alone, and we can take care of ourselves!

Do a study on everyday rural life from 1885 through 1930. Every single thing they did, cleaning, hygiene, dentistry, medical, clothing, footwear, etc. as well as food and water. Basically become an expert in "old time living" and you will have the basics of being okay. When I cleared out my grandfathers closet after he passed away (born 1896 and died 1985) he had 2 pairs of overalls, 2 pairs of shoes and 1 pair of work boots, 2 pairs of pants and 5 or 6 shirts. He grew up working the land and in hard times. Even when his life could have been easier he lived frugally, but considered himself well-off. Those from that era are the ones that we can learn from.

My family is moving to MO from Washington state in April... I was going through clothes today and something told me to hold on to all the coats, even though we don't wear them all, we may need them in the future.... I am keeping EVERYTHING that is still useful!

A piece of prepping advice on the defensive end. Eyond having backups for firearms, ammo reserves, and plenty of magazines. Buy spare parts (barrels, springs, firing pins, etc) and have the tools and knowledge to keep your guns up and operational.
Also stock up on gun oil, you can also use grease, and motor oil (it's designed for high temperatures and takes abuse well).
Just a piece of advice.

Ya know that a bag of quilt batting will also make a great pre filter material for rain water/creek/ ground water. It’s pretty cheap, even a whole bolt. I stock up for blankets, but it’s multi use product.

100% cotton towels & sheets, acquired over time for a variety of uses. Reusable mindset. I researched the pioneer /early America /Native Americans, time period for tips. I'm still learning, but over the last 5 years I've started looking at daily living through the lens of living without conveniences. Washing, cleaning, bathing (hygiene), sanitation, cooking, medical ... same with animal care. In my prayers I've found guidance.

Shut off all power for 8 hours in one day, then increase that time until you can do it efficiently for days at a time if you are truly serious about prepping. If it gets warm and will rot without power, don't rely on it. Storing food will only last until you hit the "now what?" stage. I am not religious but do believe. A great quote is to not lean on your own understanding and do not store your "treasures" (that could be anything from gold to MREs') where they might be destroyed and stolen- but acknowledging Him in all of our circumstances will help us use the brain, He gave us to live off the land He provides for us.
