Britain: I hate you.
France: I hate you too.
Britain: But that German guy looks scary...
France: Indeed!
Britain: So... Friends?
France: Sure!

British : “You French fight for money, while we British fight for honor.”
Robert Surcouf: “Sir, a man fights for what he lacks the most.”

As a French I almost lost my pride when I fell in love with a British girl.
What a relief when she told me she was Scottish.

He basically initiated a 1000-year-long rivalry between England and France by taking the title as King of England while remaining a subject of the King of France and therefore drawing England into the succession politics of France.

Thank you William, very cool

France is a beautiful country, I love France. The only problem is, it's full of Frenchmen.

The rivalry began when French Monarchs in England fought with French Monarchs in France.
Ironic.

England and France are like the twins that hated each other, then made up when they grew up and a rival showed up

How dare you accuse us of being "friends" with the French.

Imagine if England made it to the world cup finals with France.
Whatever the results their animosity would have started up again. Especially if... "It wasn't coming home."

This is what I absolutely *_love_* about history! How France and England just fought constantly and constantly, never ending conflict. Bitter rivals, nothing could pull them together. France almost conquered the world twice, until Britain somehow pulled off both times with a victory, and after that Germany became a nation too powerful for either of them to face alone which led them to stop fighting and working together, never fighting in a war as each other's enemies again. It's such an amazing story that just intrigues me...
