AQA GCSE PE: Performance Enhancing Drugs Used In Sport & The Effects They Have On The Body | PED's | Prohibited Substances | AQA Paper 2

This video will cover a range of performance enhancing drugs and dubious methods used by athletes to gain an unfair advantage. These include: stimulants, narcotic analgesics, anabolic agents, diuretics, peptide hormones (EPO), blood doping and beta blockers. It will also explore the negative side effects these have on the human body, and will help you better understand which sports performers may decide to use performance enhancing drugs and why. It is in hope that this video will help strengthen and consolidate your understanding which will prove pivotal during your paper 2 examination.

I have attached the AQA specification below where you can read about this.

Key terms: drugs, performance enhancing drugs (PED's), prohibited substances, cheating, stimulants (reaction time), narcotic analgesics (pain killers), anabolic agents (muscle mass), diuretics (weight loss), peptide hormones (EPO), blood doping (oxygen carrying capacity) and beta blockers (heart rate).
