Jackyln Zeman Last Video Before Death. She said it all
Показать описание
After 45 years as Bobbie Spencer on ABC's "General Hospital," Jacklyn Zeman, one of the most famous faces in daytime television, has passed away. They put her age at 70.
The family revealed Zeman's death from cancer on Wednesday. The show's executive producer, Frank Valentini, broke the news of her death.
Upon Jackie Zeman's passing, he tweeted, "I am heartbroken to report her loss. It has been said of her that "she was a bright light and a true professional who brought so much positive energy with her work, just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer."
In a joint statement, ABC Entertainment and "General Hospital" said, "Jacklyn Zeman has been a valued member of the General Hospital and ABC family since she debuted the iconic role of Bobbie Spencer over 45 years ago. She was nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of a villain who becomes a hero, and she will be remembered for the kindness and light she brought to the role. We are heartbroken by the news of Jackie's demise and offer our sincerest sympathies to her loved ones.
In 1977, Zeman began appearing on "General Hospital" as Barbara Jean Spencer (often known as "Bobbie"), the sassy younger sister of Anthony Geary's Luke Spencer. In private, Zeman came to think of Geary like a sibling. She said this to co-star Maurice Benard last year on his YouTube series "State of Mind": "I'm probably closer to him than I would be to a real-life brother."
Bobbie had been a teenage prostitute and had placed her child for adoption, but now she was a nurse at General Hospital. Spencer was portrayed by Zeman as an optimistic, positive woman with a soft spot for pie but a strong will of her own. When necessary, she was not above retracting her courtesy.
She remarked about the character, "Bobbie has been a fascinating person for me to play," in an interview in 1982. "I get to do... all the things that most women think about but wouldn't dare."
In 1994, Bobbie's daughter B.J. was involved in a school bus accident that left her brain dead, and the scene was one of Zeman's most unforgettable. Bobbie and her ex-husband Tony (Brad Maule) decided to give their child's heart to her cousin Maxie, who was suffering from Kawasaki disease.
Carly Spencer's on-screen daughter Laura Wright, played by Wright, shared a string of broken heart emojis. Kevin Collins actor Jon Lindstrom penned, "This is going to take me a minute to process." I refuse to accept that a vital force like hers has passed on.
Zeman was born on March 6, 1953, in Englewood, New Jersey. He began dancing when he was young and acting in school plays when he was a teenager. Initially recruited for only three days, she was offered a contract at the ABC soap "One Life to Live" and decided to leave New York University, where she was studying pre-medicine, to pursue a career as a dancer in Venezuela.
For slightly over a year, she was Lana McClain on "One Life," but then she departed for "General Hospital." "I didn't even audition," she said to a blogger in 2010. Four Daytime Emmy Award nominations were submitted for Zeman's work on the show.
Zeman worked as a Playboy Bunny and in ads outside of soap operas to finance his education. Among her many film and TV credits is a part in 1982's "National Lampoon's Class Reunion" and the ABC Afterschool Special "Montana Crossroads" (1993). She was also nominated for an Emmy for her recurring role as Sofia Madison on "The Bay," a criminal drama.
In April, Zeman last appeared on "General Hospital" for her character's grandson's wedding. She also shared a video on Instagram that month to commemorate the show's 60th anniversary.
Please accept my deepest gratitude on behalf of everyone at the show for the countless viewers who have kept us on the air throughout the years. "We adore you."
She initially wed Glenn Gordon, then Steve Gribbin, and finally disc jockey Murray "Murray the K" Kaufman, all of whom she subsequently divorced. Cassidy and Lacey, Zeman's daughters from a previous marriage to Gordon, are among her surviving loved ones.
thanks for watching
